It’s 2020 and I haven’t updated this site in over a year. The titles above all have something in common as they are all Facebook pages and all started by me lol. The original name Lunenburg County Woolen Mill was and is my wishful attempt to establish a cottage industry wool processing mill. I haven’t gotten there yet and who knows if I ever will although anything can happen!
In the mean time I have been working/playing with wool in starts and stops as time and energy has allowed me. I have pretty much used up the Romney fleeces I purchased from Aspengrove Farm and have moved on to some British milk sheep (East Frisian) wool I sourced from a farm in Lunenburg County.
Each Roving Rosie is 15 grams, ready for spinning or needle felting. This wool is robust and springy, a recognized quality of most commercial type or down breeds of sheep. This wool would not be considered for next to skin apparel because of its medium to high prickle factor and would be best suited for outerwear garments and is not recommended for wet felting.

The last of the Romney wool was from Curly Joe a big gentle ram who is living in rainbow meadows. His curly locks were used to create art yarn in beautiful rainbow-ey colours.

I plyed the single with a strand of silk I had spun earlier that I didn’t know what to do with. I think it was waiting for this yarn.

These skeins filled my arms!
I have sent this batch of beauties to Chocolate River Yarns and Fibres http://www.chocolateriveryarnsandfibres.com
